The past year and some months...has been different. As an introvert, I have to be honest. I have really liked the stuck at home part. I got to see the sides of myself that are usually put aside because of work, busy-ness, kid stuff, and all of the things that encompass a typical single-mom-making-ends-meet kind of life. I became a painter, a DIYer, and, most recently, a woodworker. I discovered how much I love to take something really old or beaten up and breathe new life into it. First it was an old vanity, then some old mid century chairs, followed by a random circular wood scrap. Once I finished those first projects, I didn't want to stop. My son had an engine sitting on a pallet in my garage for months. When I finally got him to part out the engine, I was able to snag the pallet. It was NASTY; covered in old oil, engine grease and who knows what else. I ripped it apart, cut it into pieces, and made shelves for my wall.

I showed friends who were super complimentary, as friends are. I actually thought they looked pretty simple and almost cheap. But, the comments were so NICE...so I started to look at other shelves people had made from old wood and realized that mine were... actually pretty good!

Then came requests from friends to make them some. Heck yes! I was on it. I made shelves for a couple of friends followed by this table...

At this point, even I was impressed with my work. Since these first few projects, I have made new pieces very week, sometimes several. I am at a point where I am ready to do more of this and less of anything else. So came this site, the shop, and a few new tools...
